JOB SUMMARY
Perform professional oral interpretation (I.e., medical interviews, education sessions, lectures, meetings) and written translation (i.e., technical documents, official documents, communications, etc.), from Arabic to English or vice versa.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Translate documents from/to Arabic to English upon request including translation of government documents, letters, reports etc
• Interpret discussions, medical interviews, education sessions, lectures, meetings, etc. as requested and in daily working life to allow continuation of the IMC project in clear understanding of both parties including legal advisors, government authorities, etc.
• Always keep respect towards patients, collaborators, authorities, and IMC staff participating in discussions.
• Ensure confidentiality of all translations is maintained as directed by the Project coordination team.
• Ensure neutrality and accuracy when interpreting/translating, asking for clarification or elaboration as needed.
• All verbal interpretation and written translation must be without personal bias.
• Declare any “conflict of interest” when asked to interpret or translate (e.g., personal involvement) which would necessitate using other staff members for translation.

Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• University/higher education degree in translation/linguistics (English language) is essential.
• Previous work experience as an interpreter/translator is essential.
• Previous working experience with international organizations or NGO is desirable.
• Fluent in spoken and written English and Arabic
• Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook Express)
• Knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage.
• Good knowledge and experience of writing formal documents.
