General Position Summary
The Counselor will be responsible for counseling the eligible family members of index TB patients for TB Preventive Treatment (TPT). The counselor will be placed in large private hospitals (TPT facilities) of their respective district on a rotational basis. S/he will be responsible for maintaining documents/files as per the formats shared.
Essential Job Functions
- Counsel registered index TB patients and their eligible family members for TPT through phone calls, at large private hospitals (that are selected for provision of TPT services), visiting households, etc.
- Coordination with the DFS for obtaining information about registered index TB patients and their family members.
- Visit Chest Camps (contact screening camps) for the provision of TPT services to eligible family members of index TB patients.
- Ensure household contacts of registered index TB patients at large private hospitals are screened via X-ray, checked up by physicians and put on TPT if eligible by physician.
- Facilitate the household contacts put on TPT in case of adverse events and referred to the physician
- Ensure TPT medicines are available, and in case of unavailability, report this to the supervisor concerned.
- Maintain records of contacts, i.e., those counseled and followed up until the outcome declaration.
- Develop and follow the monthly workplan in coordination with the supervisor.
- Prepare a field progress report based on the workplan and submit it monthly.
- Ensure timely data collection and provision to sub-recipients for analysis.
- Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

- Accountable for following the MC Information & Communication Technology policy, Code of conduct and MC Conflict of interest policy.
Reports Directly To: Regional Coordinator
Works Directly With: Sub-recipients Unit
Knowledge and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Public Health, Psychology, or a related field from a recognized university.
· Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in counselling, community health work/engagement, or TB-related programs, preferably with an NGO/INGO or in a healthcare setting.
· Understanding of TB, including patient counselling, excellent communication, coordination and training skills, contact screening, and community-level outreach.
· Familiarity with local health systems and the dynamics of working with private sector hospitals and communities.
· Proven experience in documentation, record-keeping, and use of standard reporting formats.
· Ability to build rapport and counsel individuals and families from diverse backgrounds with sensitivity and empathy.
· Strong interpersonal and coordination skills to effectively liaise with district focal staff, health facilities, and community stakeholders.
· Good written and verbal communication skills in Urdu and English; knowledge of regional/local languages is an asset.
· Basic computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, and data entry tools.
· Ability to conduct regular visit/travel within the community for outreach activities (contact tracing and participation in chest camps for screening of household contacts)
· Ability to counsel the household contacts of TB patients, motivate them to take TPT
· Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, follow procedures & directives, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as collaboratively in team settings.
